Rehabilation Counselors Discuss The Tools on How to Treat Addiction Successfully

$
0
0
When a professional, licensed, and personalized treatment plan is used to aid in recovery, the patient will learn valuable skills that will prevent these triggers from having the same impact, and will gain means to combat the emotional and mental pressures that may have led to addiction in the first place.
There is a reason that most people are not able to overcome addiction on their own.

There is medical care that is unique to each individual which must be administered prior to therapeutic intervention.  This medical evaluation and treatment is unique to each person’s body, and allows the stabilization of the patient before the rocky and often stressful path of recovery really starts.  It’s not possible for those who are dealing with addiction to successfully administer this type of medical treatment to and for themselves, no matter if they are a skilled medical professional.

In addition, when people try to quit on their own, they often encounter triggers or fall-points that allow them to slip back into the addictive behaviors they’ve tried so hard to escape.  Even someone who is attempting to control an addiction on their own is prone to experience emotionally taxing experiences and mental stresses.  When a professional, licensed, and personalized treatment plan is used to aid in recovery, the patient will learn valuable skills that will prevent these triggers from having the same impact, and will gain means to combat the emotional and mental pressures that may have led to addiction in the first place.

When addiction takes over as the primary driver of a person’s action, a patient may feel like their life is not their own anymore.  The addiction is actually in charge, and the person is just along for the ride.  The higher functioning and longer an addict keeps up the appearance that everything is normal, the harder it can be to admit that they need some help regaining a solid sense of themselves.

Recovery patients declare that, with the best professional treatment counselors and therapists, recovery re-introduces them to the person they once were.  The family and friends, who once despaired of ever finding their loved one again, are able to know the person that they valued is there and was only buried under the addiction.  In addition to the self-knowledge gained during the recovery process, there are also critical skills gained that allow the patient to grow in capability, confidence and outlook.  These skills can include the ability to detect and diffuse triggering situations which would previously have generated addictive behaviors.  Just knowing that these triggers are present can be enough to add significant benefit to a patient’s life.  However, learning the coping skills that will help insulate a person in recovery from future challenges is the key to a recovery lasting a lifetime.

Nutritional Experts Explain How Losing Weight through Surgery is More Dangerous Compared to Natural Methods

$
0
0
It is important for people with obesity to understand that natural methods not only reduce such medical risks but are also healthier and longer lasting than surgical methods. Any sort of medical treatment that involves treating the metabolic system must be slow and natural to prevent hazardous side effects.
Losing weight through surgical method is becoming a common practice.

Most people suffering from obesity today prefer an instant reduction of fat rather than following a natural regime. Surgery seems to promise an instant fix of obesity, but this promise can be false. Surgeries for obesity are radical where complications are rare, but fatal. In fact, any hastening method adopted to cure obesity is hazardous. Even if the doctors successfully remove the fatty deposits, there is a high chance of infection, hemorrhage, organ shutdown, vomiting, and malnutrition.

The immediate dangers of the surgery are:

• Infection

• Reaction to anesthesia

• Excessive bleeding

• Blood clots

• Gastrointestinal leakages

• Gallstones

• Diarrhea

• Vomiting

The long-term issues that can be a result from this surgery are:

Stomal stenosis

A common medical complication associated with gastric bypass is that the stoma (hole) connecting the stomach to the small intestines can become narrow or blocked by a piece of food. One-fifth of patients with weight loss surgery suffer from the stomal stenosis.

Other complications include:

• Bowel obstruction

• Hernia

• Low sugar level

• Ulcer

• Stomach perforation

• Malnutrition

• Death

Psychosocial Effects

Other than the complicated medical conditions, most people who undergo a quick fix report several psychosocial and physiological effects related to such rapid weight loss.

Many people report relationship issues when the patient begins to be anxious or feel nervous about their weight loss. Social occasions become awkward, especially around food.

The problem however, is not the surgical method, but the eligibility of the patient. Surgical methods are mostly recommended to patients who suffer from heart diseases and diabetes, because obesity for them can be life threatening. Unfortunately, many health institutions have started to recommend surgeries, liposuction, and other methods of weight loss instead of recommending a convenient and safer weight loss plan in exchange for money.

As the metabolic system of human beings must be slowly persuaded towards a change, sudden changes are often rejected by the body. Hence, it is important for people with obesity to understand that natural methods not only reduce such medical risks but are also healthier and longer lasting than surgical methods. Any sort of medical treatment that involves treating the metabolic system must be slow and natural to prevent hazardous side effects.

Recovery Experts Explain Customizing an Addiction Recovery Program for Each Patient That Works

$

A personalized and customized approach takes advantage of the best advances in technology and science that back up addiction recovery therapies medical and mental health foundations. As recovery treatment science evolves the highest level treatment programs are able to weave new information about addict treatment into personalized plans as appropriate, giving each patient the benefit of the best in medical science.
The best recovery treatment programs eliminate this kind of indecision, and instead of giving an addict too many choices, they simply customize the addiction recovery treatment program in conjunction with each addict’s needs.

When an addict is drawn toward a recovery program, there are many choices.  The presence of so much information on the Internet, family physicians, friends and others may present too much information to someone already handling a lot of physical, mental and emotional input.  The prospect of undertaking the journey to recovery may seem daunting, and the level of choice available in recovery treatment programs can add to the propensity for the addict to simply put the project aside, and return to it ‘later’.

This personalized and customized approach takes advantage of the best advances in technology and science that back up addiction recovery therapies medical and mental health foundations.  As recovery treatment science evolves the highest level treatment programs are able to weave new information about addict treatment into personalized plans as appropriate, giving each patient the benefit of the best in medical science.

The only part of the recovery process which may be said to be completely standardized, even in the most custom and bespoke therapy situations, is the initial medical evaluation.  For the safety of the addiction recovery patient, it is critical that a licensed and trained physician specializing in the underlying medical dangers to recovery, take a thorough physical examination of the patient and evaluate their medical readiness to undertake the program.  After that, each recovery program should be completely unique.  After all, not every addiction recovery patient requires a detoxification process, but some do.

However, not all types of therapy work equally well for all recovering patients.  Group therapy and family therapy are useful when a patient is learning to re-build relationships and develop trust in controlled situations, but not all patients are ready for that level of intimacy as they are going through the first stages of recovery.  Some patients benefit from a longer experience with one on one personal psychotherapy.  Part of developing an addict’s personal treatment plan is really knowing that patient, and understanding how they learn best.  By applying the right combination of approaches to give the addict experiential, auditory or visual cues, the treating therapist is able to get information through to the patient more quickly, more effectively and with less stress.

Treatment Experts Express How Daily Habits Will Help Keep the Extra Weight Off

5 daily habits can help achieve your goal and keep the extra weight away from the hips for good.
Losing weight is one of the most challenging tasks that everyone has to deal with.

Usually after accomplishing such a success it’s twice as difficult to keep the extra weight off. That is why these 5 daily habits can help achieve your goal and keep the extra weight away from the hips for good.

1. Be physically active every day

Even a 10-20 minute routine a day can make a huge difference. Research shows that people who exercise daily feel better about themselves. Physical activity alone may not help losing weight but it definitely proven that it can help in the process of preventing weight gain.

2. Eat breakfast

As strange as it may sound- eating can help you keep the extra weight off. That is because, as Italian researchers have shown, when we skip eating breakfast our appetite grows and we tend to have a larger portion of meals later that contribute to excessive weight. Breakfast provides the body energy to function properly throughout the day and remain active. And a healthier lifestyle is directly linked to a healthier eating habits.

3. Find stress-free ways of dealing with stress

One of the main reasons for gaining weight in the first place is stress and that is why finding a stress-free ways of dealing with stress is one of the habits you need to integrate in your daily life in order to stay healthy and keep that extra weight off. It is very important for people having trouble with their weight and eating out of stress to find ways to make themselves happy which are not associated with food and keep doing them in order to substitute the poor eating habits.

4. Make healthier food choices

That just means to think about what you are eating. Eat fresh, eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Everything that is low on fat is good and all junk food needs to be left behind.

5. Find support

There is no need for you to go through this alone. It is hard to keep your weight in control especially if you don’t have proper support from your family and friends. So find a friend who will go through this with you or at least who will be supportive enough to show you they appreciate your efforts. Losing weight and remaining healthy is all about changing your lifestyle and making healthier choices.

Treatment Experts Explain How To Become Empowered with Information and Education

$
0
0
When someone chooses to recreate themselves, it doesn’t happen overnight.
Knowledge can empower anyone who’s willing to learn. With the right information and proper tools, leaving the rehabilitation center after successfully completing treatment won’t be as frightening.

When someone chooses to recreate themselves, it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and dedication for someone to work towards the person they want to become. Information and education are two significant keys to creating a successful life.

When someone is recovering from addiction there will be many decisions to make after treatment is over. The possibilities are endless, though they may not seem that way. Sometimes in order for someone to rebuild confidence, they must educate themselves. Knowing the steps that need to be taken in order for a person to accomplish their goals can encourage them once they realize that their dream is completely attainable.

Life after rehab. 60% of people relapse after treatment for drug abuse and 90% of people abusing alcohol deviate back to it. Why is this? Often times throughout the recovery process there is a lack of information given on how to transition back into the real world. If an individual is to remain sober and abstain from narcotics, treatment mustn’t end after the recovery program is over. Treatment programs should educate their clients and provide tools and strategies for life after rehab.

Discipline. This is important when transitioning back into the real world. During a treatment program there is plenty of discipline, so to leave and discontinue this form of living altogether can lead to relapse. Creating a schedule to stick by involving daily activities, plenty of exercise, and weekly meetings with a support group will help encourage sober living.

Gender differences in maintaining sobriety. There have been studies on men and women regarding life after rehab. 33% of men reported substance use after treatment, yet only 21% of women reported substance use after treatment. Why the difference? It’s possible that women find great comradery within support groups, or maybe the greater pressure to become sober due to social pressures and stigma. Regardless of the differences, both men and women should get involved in support groups and work to maintain motivation.

Like the late Francis Bacon once said, “Knowledge is Power.”

Cold Creek Behavioral Health Reveals The Financial Struggle of Addiction and Treatments for Recovery

$
0
0
Addiction treatment in Utah through Cold Creek Wellness Center consists of a comprehensive range of programs. Addiction is a complex disease characterized by severe and often uncontrollable drug seeking and drug use that persists despite severe physiological, social, economic and legal consequences. Even though the initial act of taking drugs or alcohol is a conscious choice, after repeated use, brain function is altered and addiction takes over.
An addict is a master organizer, a genius about justification, and a stellar sales person. Drugs and alcohol significantly affect the neural pathways that control motivation, reward, memory, learning and impulse control.

The most determined and aware client is the addict himself, and the ability to consistently sell addiction as a benefit, or a measure to how debilitating substance improves quality of life, or simply an acceptable mode of thinking and behavior, is a skill-set that the most talented hedge fund sales team would love to harness.  The truth is, the sales job that an addict performs is just as questionable as any other sales position.  The motivation of the sales person, just like any other person trying to persuade, must be taken into account, and an addict’s motivations come from long-held and often buried emotional and mental wounds.

There are situations in which the addict is a prominent member of the community with a high-paying and respected career position, with a family depending on both his status and income, which justifies the continuation of addictive behavior patterns because, frankly, the money that would have to be spent for rehab isn’t worth it.  Rehabilitation from an addiction can be costly, both with time and money.  The social, political, and career risks to admitting that there might be a problem are incalculable.  Rather, they are calculable – in some situations, this approach can cost a person their job and way of life.  Dependent family members will suffer. This thought truth of addiction can, unfortunately, serve as a justification that allows the addict to postpone treatment or dismiss the idea of recovery all together.

However high the costs of recovery, there are higher costs to continued addiction.  The loss of the ability to function in a job or in a family, the loss of trust and respect and the loss of self-control are all aspects of addiction’s high toll.  It is not uncommon for addiction to cost the addict their life, but it is more tragic when addiction costs the life of a family member or friend.

In today’s environment, it is easier than ever to structure a flexible, private, and confidential treatment program.  Social circles need not know about the troubles facing the addict.  Depending on the employer – employee relationship, there may not even be a need to disclose the treatment plan to the employer.  When an addiction treatment patient is able to leverage insurance, which most high-quality addiction treatment programs accept, there is no financial barrier to undertaking therapeutic treatment for addiction. Substance abuse and addictive behavior cycles are drains on the patient’s resources, and developing the skills therapy can give will only create more prosperity.

Treatment Experts Discuss The Physical Dangers of Alcohol Abuse on the Body

$

Over time, use of alcohol to relax and de-stress actually programs the brain to perceive threats where none exist. What might start off as somewhat risky, uninhibited behavior that is due to being intoxicated can evolve into feelings of depression, isolation, and anxiety that may lead to suicide, self-harm and deliberate injury.
From the perspective of an active addict, there is a lot of planning and life-management that has to be done on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

It’s not easy to be fully involved with an addiction, and even more complicated to try to keep it from impacting work, family and an addict’s love life.  The reality is that addiction is a full time job.  Getting lost in the needs of the addiction allows the addict to separate from painful and traumatic emotional processes that cause feelings of worthlessness, depression and isolation.

Physically, alcoholics experience changes to their health that even doctors dedicated to its study don’t fully understand.  Beyond the damage to the liver, called cirrhosis, anemia can bring about symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue, and lightheadedness.  Heart disease is also a known outcome of prolonged heavy drinking.  Extensive nerve damage can cause or worsen depression, and lead to alcoholic neuropathy.  But the distinct physical impacts are nothing compared to the mental and emotional health impacts.  Simply because alcohol acts on the brain so quickly, anyone who is prone to mental illness may suffer quickly from exacerbated depression and anxiety.  When someone starts drinking heavily in order to change the way they feel temporarily, they may be unaware of how risky this temporary feeling of escape can be.

In a 2007 NHS Scotland study, 27% of men and 19% of women who attempted self-harm gave alcohol as a reason contributing to their decision to hurt themselves. There are obviously real physical and emotional dangers to heavy alcohol abuse that are in need of more research and more treatment.

CASA Recovery Explain The Stigma Attached to Addiction can Cause even Greater Harm to the Human Body

$

Therapists trained in different modalities can be very helpful in different stages of recovery, and some modalities are better for other types of addiction.
It’s common knowledge that drug and alcohol addiction can be devastating to a person’s life, but the impacts on a day to day level are serious and have long-lasting consequences.

In the workplace, trust can deteriorate as an employee’s responsibility and reliability come into question.  Social relationships can suffer and support networks can easily erode.  Romantic relationships and family ties suffer under the stress of lies and manipulation, leaving the addict alone and feeling even more defenseless against the depression, loneliness and mental illness that led them down addiction’s path in the first place.  Normally, when a person has a physical illness that requires medical attention, friends and families often flock together to help ensure that stress stays low and recovery is ensured.  When addiction is a factor, the stigma of mental illness becomes a part of the equation. A feeling of being profoundly alone and isolated from family is one of the things that drives addicts to seek help.

Help for addiction comes in many types, and not every plan for recovery is suitable to every client.  The best programs will have the widest variety of resources for the client, including various therapeutic resources to treat the underlying emotional issues that are present and preventing a successful recovery.  Therapists trained in different modalities can be very helpful in different stages of recovery, and some modalities are better for other types of addiction.  In fact, having access to personal one-on-one psychotherapy can be a major resource during the first stages of recovery, but also adding group therapy programs led by an experienced treatment professional can make a significant difference in maintaining recovery and rebuilding a structure of friends and social support.

When a person is suffering, no matter what the cause, the first instinct of a loving family member or friend is to help.  Finding a treatment program that will help with a disease as complicated as addiction can seem like a daunting task, with such a large arena to choose from.  Stopping the destructive behaviors that can cause such turmoil in a person’s life is critical, and finding a team of caring professionals who are able to appreciate the person underneath the addiction is key to recovery.  The best resource to have in the family’s corner is an experienced group of therapists and addiction treatment professionals who can ensure that the path to recovery is as smooth and loving as possible.

Treatment Experts Describe What Material Possessions are Allowed at a Detox Facility

$

While every detox center or treatment facility will have regulations about what is allowed and what is not, depending on the addict’s situation, they may find it comforting to know that computers and cellular phones are allowed in the best detox centers.
If an addict has made the very brave, and very scary, decision to get their life back on a clean and sober track, a huge congratulations to them.

A future client may have some very basic questions about entering detox or rehab, and one of those might be what someone is allowed to bring into the treatment center. While every detox center or treatment facility will have regulations about what is allowed and what is not, depending on the addict’s situation, they may find it comforting to know that computers and cellular phones are allowed in the best detox centers.  They enable the patient to stay connected to family and friends and, when used responsibly, can aid in the detox process.

Physically, detox is a very strenuous process to undertake.  Even if someone is planning to admit themselves to one of the finest detox facilities in the world, they will be going through chemical, emotional and physical changes that can cause emotions to float to the surface, feelings to be easily hurt and physical exhaustion to take hold more easily.  A person’s body going the detoxification will be fighting a mighty battle, even if graceful therapies like IV Detox Therapy are used to aid the steps to sobriety.  Because the need for physical comfort is so great, some facilities even provide complementary therapies, like private massage, in order to help detoxify the body and maintain a lower, healthier stress level.

People admitting to detox or rehab should bring slippers or comfortable shoes and flip flops.  The living areas are typically shared in a rehab program, but the client will most likely be on their own during the detox stage.  Depending on where a person goes, and whether they move from the detox stage to the recovery stage in the same facility, they may want to bring a robe, comfortable clothing, and a pair of pajamas.  Books and magazines, especially those that provide positive feedback and inspiration, are welcome.

Each individual’s detox experience need not be the traumatic event that it was in previous decades.  The best treatment for addiction includes the best treatment center.  When the decision has been made to check into an addiction treatment facility, that person should be sure to bring any prescription or over the counter drugs that may be taken, in the original bottles.  This will enable the medical staff to care for safely during the detox process.

Hill Alcohol and Drug Treatment Explains How Recovery Can Benefit the Lives of Addicts

$

There is very little room for what seems like an overwhelming and time-consuming medical, psychological and emotional journey to start in what seems like an already full life.
Many addicts are high-functioning and hold responsible positions at work, have families relying on them to be present, and are important members of their church communities.

It may sound strange, but one of the hurdles some addicts face when seeking addiction treatment and therapy, is time. There is very little room for what seems like an overwhelming and time-consuming medical, psychological and emotional journey to start in what seems like an already full life.

However, recovery is not one size fits all, and recovery programs offer a vast variety of choices in methods, patient management styles, and above all, lifestyle management.  While many recovery programs focus on the residential side of treatment, where a patient admits to a facility for a few weeks, undergoes detoxification (or medically managed withdrawal from the substance(s) that are the focus of the addiction), gets to a stable medical standpoint, and then begins therapy and treatment, that’s not the only way to approach sobriety.  In fact, the truth of the matter is that most recovery programs offer outpatient options as well as residential treatment.

There are plenty of myths surrounding outpatient treatment.  Some people believe that the recovery rates are not as high, because the patient is not removed from their former habits, social circles and triggers for enough time to adjust their thinking about their addiction.  However, statistics reflect that outpatient therapy is equally effective for patients in many scenarios.  Certainly where outpatient therapy is the only choice, it’s better than continuing in the spiral and stress of addiction.  Also, contrary to common thinking, recovery candidates who are dealing with medical or mental health issues outside of addiction can benefit from outpatient recovery programs.  And while it is commonly thought that inpatient programs offer the patient more substantial attention, including individual and group therapy, the outpatient treatment models have evolved to include those features as well.  In fact, outpatient therapy will often primarily focus on cognitive and behavioral skills that will help the patient avoid relapse.

Like residential recovery programs, the key to the effectiveness of the recovery is the quality of the program and treatment staff.  A day treatment program which is not intensive enough will amount to less than a high-school drug awareness class.  However, intensive and heavily managed outpatient recovery programs offer the support, education, and therapy that an addict needs to return to a productive and happy life, without sacrificing the ongoing responsibilities and support of living at home.

Addiction Counselors Point Out How Experience Does Matter When Treating Addiction

$

A patient should feel comfortable and confidant talking with their therapist about their educational background, focus of studies and writings, and accreditation and certification status. While some excellent counselors may have undergone a short period of study to reach their educational goals, others will have advanced degrees and specialties of study that line up with various addiction treatment methods.
Both inpatient and outpatient alcohol and drug recovery programs require astute, sensitive, and well-trained professionals who can care about and manage the recovery of the addict.

When looking for a recovery therapy program that will suit a particular lifestyle, seek out treatment centers that are staffed by therapists who have great credentials.  Throughout the course of a recovery program at a treatment center, whether inpatient or outpatient recovery, the patient will interact with multiple professionals.  From the therapist who focuses on individual sessions of psychotherapy, and doctors who monitor the medical well-being of the patient and prescribe medications to aid recovery, to treatment professionals who specialize in teaching skills programs, every person that reacts with a recovering patient has special and unique qualifications.  They chose to work hard to help others.  The quality of the program overall and the rate of success depends upon staff that is dedicated to making life better for addicts and their families.

The therapist who specializes in recovery may have studied in a degree program that wasn’t recovery-focused, but could have interned or spent years working in a program to gain experience.  Licensure in some states is tied to education, and may require continuing education.  Most states require counselors to be certified via the National Board for Certified Counselors. Regardless of the level of formal education a counselor has, the patient’s level of comfort with their primary counselor or therapist will play a large role in the success or failure of treatment.  Make sure the patient is comfortable with the background of the therapist, and then measure the relationship in insights gained, stress relieved, and a sense of personal connection.

Over many years of experience, therapists and treatment professionals will have gained aptitudes for particular types of therapy.  While there are many paths that lead to recovery, it’s likely that there is only one path that is best for a particular individual. Even if it feels uncomfortable to think about, when focusing hard on someone’s health, always advocate for the best care.  Honest reflection and dedication to growth will assure the best perspective to choose an experienced and thoughtful treatment program.

Treatment Experts Clarify Why Obtaining Help in Order to Recover from Addiction Is Necessary

$
0
0
While looking for a treatment program, loved ones should seek one that includes them and the family as part of the healing process. If considering a residential treatment facility, as many recommend, the recovering addict will probably be kept away from family and friends during the initial detoxification process.
As the disease progresses, it becomes clear that the impacts of addiction will not be isolated to just the addict.

When there is a friend or loved one who is caught in the spiral of addiction, it’s difficult to watch.  There seems to be no end to the bad decisions, lack of good judgment, and self-harm that said loved one can pull down upon themselves.  Impulsive financial decisions an addict makes can lead to familial poverty, troubling even the youngest and most unaware kids in a family.  Draining financial resources is only a tiny aspect of the devastation that addiction can bring.  As an addict’s behavior becomes increasingly focused on feeding the addiction, the resulting broken promises, missed family commitments and manipulation create distrust, pushing the addict away and increasing a sense of isolation, anxiety, depression and fear.

While looking for a treatment program, loved ones should seek one that includes them and the family as part of the healing process.  If considering a residential treatment facility, as many recommend, the recovering addict will probably be kept away from family and friends during the initial detoxification process.  This can last anywhere from a few days to a week, depending on the medical health issues that present during evaluation.

However, once the client’s physical health has stabilized and therapy has begun, a licensed and caring treatment program will always seek to involve loved ones and family members.  After all, the ability to rebuild loving relationships creates a stable foundation for the addict to stand on when they re-enter normal life.  An understanding of the addiction cycle and the ability to provide care for the patient is invaluable.  In fact, through the educational aspects of a great, highly qualified treatment program, the family and friends may be able to recognize triggers, detect signs of relapse, and in general serve as an outside resource to their loved one’s treatment team.

A world-class addiction treatment program will involve every aspect of the client’s life.  Evaluating and treating physical and medical issues is primary, and the detoxification process is part of this. Treating a client’s emotional, spiritual, and mental state is equally important, and can be a great resource to prevent relapse.

Treatment Experts Explain How a Recovering Addict Would be the Best Type of Therapist to those Recovering

$

Addiction recovery clients may benefit more than other groups from therapeutic disclosure, as the sense that they are understood at a deep and meaningful level becomes stronger when they realize their therapist has been through similar life experiences.
As a point of statistical fact, many people who elect to devote their lives to helping people overcome addiction are recovering addicts themselves.

It’s not uncommon for those going through a good treatment program to focus their attention on becoming counselors for other addicts, especially once their outlook improves and they feel a desire to give back to their community.  The recovering addict, who has been down the rocky and disruptive road of addiction and then up the long journey of recovery, imagines they are best-suited to understand where patients would be coming from.  They’re not wrong!  Or perhaps they did not have a good experience in treatment – they may find that they have a plan or approach that would have suited them better, and want to use a new approach to help others find their way back to productive and healthy living.

No matter the motivation that brings a recovering addict to the career path of helping others, the best plan for a recovering addict who is considering studying to become a therapist is to let their recovery stabilize for a while before taking any big leaps.  So what about the addict who is considering treatment and may feel slightly uncomfortable with the thought of a recovering therapist?  Possible fears of the “reformed” addict offering few and strict therapies, or imagined difficulties maintaining a professional relationship with someone who would disclose their recovery status are common causes for concern.  While remaining professional, common wisdom advises most therapists to maintain minimal self-disclosure. There are certain therapeutic modalities which benefit from the type of relationship that can sustain give-and-take in the recovery process.

There has been a great deal of study on the benefits of a close therapist-client relationship.  The bond that allows for the client to relax into the therapeutic process cannot be overstated.  In particular, addiction recovery clients may benefit more than other groups from therapeutic disclosure, as the sense that they are understood at a deep and meaningful level becomes stronger when they realize their therapist has been through similar life experiences.  In any case, the relationship between the client and the therapist cannot be based solely on the disclosure that “we have something in common!”  The therapist must have credentials, experience and expertise to back up their approach to treatment.  The potential disclosure of any recovery status should only solidify what’s an already well-established professional relationship. An experienced therapist can navigate this disclosure with clients in recovery to best suit their chances of real results and long term sobriety.

Elite Rehab Placement Suggests That Alcohol Brings Out Destructive Attitudes in People

Life is never easy and as life continues on, it becomes increasingly complicated and demanding. When recovering from an addiction, the more simple life is, the better. There is a respectful period of time when someone leaves recovery to give themselves emotional and physical space from the chaos of life.
Judging others is something most people have to work on throughout life.

Learning to accept others can be challenging, especially when an addict is trying to recover. Generally people struggling with addiction choose to put their attention on other people and focus on the problems of others in efforts to avoid their own responsibilities. Being judgmental towards others can hinder an addict in their recovery process by slowing down personal progression.

Below are a few tools that can be used for a person to focus on their personal growth:

Learn to be Present

This is one of the most simple techniques to exercise when focusing on personal growth. When seeking this form of growth, being in the moment and enjoying what is happening now, will help relieve stress and pressure concerning the future. Keeping the mind generating present events deviates it from dwelling on the past and pondering the future.

A Grain of Salt

How meaningful is a grain of salt? One single grain among thousands of others, seems pretty insignificant, right? When it comes to the opinions of others, it’s important for recovering addicts to take negative, judgmental words with a grain of salt. In doing so, a person has the freedom to heal at their own pace, be authentic, and live without fearing the opinions of others.

Simplify Everything

Life is never easy and as life continues on, it becomes increasingly complicated and demanding. When recovering from an addiction, the more simple life is, the better. There is a respectful period of time when someone leaves recovery to give themselves emotional and physical space from the chaos of life. Creating space between the people in life that drain energy and time will benefit the recovery process after returning home.

When someone is suffering from substance abuse, emotional abuse follows. Regardless of the type of abuse, it brings out the worst in people. Oftentimes prior to forming an addiction a person undergoes abuse in many different forms that pushes them to find solace in alcohol and drugs. There is help on the horizon. Previous emotional abuse can be reconciled with therapy, treatment, and a few tips on continuing personal growth.

A nutritional expert, or nutritionist, has a thorough knowledge about food and its constituents. Nutritionists have in-depth knowledge about the food items that are beneficial for health and those that are to be avoided.
Nutrition is defined as the science that deals with the practice of utilizing the most out of food.

A person who advises people on what to eat and what to avoid is termed as a nutritional expert. In the modern era, a hectic work schedule has compelled people to ignore health conscious eating advice. People are becoming increasingly reliant on fast foods; however, this is not healthy at all. To maintain a healthy body and mind, one must consume nutritious foods. Not only does it help in optimum development of the body, but also keeps the person fit and healthy. It is extremely important to consult a nutritional expert.

A nutritional expert, or nutritionist, has a thorough knowledge about food and its constituents. Nutritionists have in-depth knowledge about the food items that are beneficial for health and those that are to be avoided.  They can be the perfect guide for anyone who is looking to adopt healthy eating habits.

A few points which highlight the importance of nutritional experts are:

• A nutritionist can create an effective food plan, keeping in mind the individual’s requirements, health condition, lifestyle and history of past diseases. Such a personalized food plan will go a long way to ensure the physical, as well as, mental well-being of the person concerned.

• Often people suffer from ailments; therefore, it is important to devise a well-balanced food plan to ensure the person makes a speedy recovery. If a person has little or no knowledge about nutritional science, this can be an arduous task. This is where the role of a nutritional expert helps the client. The food plan recommended by an expert will be aimed at promoting optimum health and fitness for an individual.

• A nutritionist is also important for people from the field of sports. An athlete needs to stay fit and healthy to be at the top of their game. And to make that happen, they must follow a healthy diet plan consisting of nutritious foods. This food plan must be decided upon after consultation with a nutritional expert.

Nutrition experts have a thorough understanding of how different foods function in the body. Using that knowledge an expert can create customized meal plans that can go a long way in helping the person remain healthy and fit.

Experts Discuss Maintaining Proper Hormone Levels Can Change a Person’s Life

A struggle for many Americans is weight. Many doctors have little knowledge regarding hormones and their relevance to weight gain. Often times the doctors choose to rely on blood tests, which can be helpful, as long as the doctor knows how to properly interpret the results. Aside from blood testing, more priority should be put into checking a person’s hormone balance.
The body is controlled by hormones. This directly relates to weight gain and weight loss and these problems can be managed better after acquiring a better knowledge of hormone balance.

There are many people out there who work so hard to decrease their body weight. They test and try diet after diet, exercise, yet the weight remains. This can be frustrating and discouraging, but there is hope. In a situation like this, a person can be well-assured that they are suffering from a hormone issue. There can be problems with the following hormones; insulin, estrogen, thyroid, and cortisol.

The thyroid controls metabolism and a low thyroid puts on fat throughout the body. This is an important hormone to check when dealing with weight related issues.

Estrogen – One of the least favorite hormones due to the fact that estrogen is a lipogenic (fat causing) hormone. This hormone typically puts fat around the thighs, hips and buttocks. A woman’s worst nightmare. When someone has an insulin imbalance there weight can begin to fluctuate. Insulin has a tendency to create fat because if a person’s insulin level is high, the extra sugar gets stored and this stored sugar turns into fat.

Cortisol is a hormone that gets released when under stress. This hormone is often times another cause for weight problems. Cortisols responds to stress and by doing so, by responding to stress, it raises sugar levels.

The main culprit for weight gain is adrenaline. This “fight or flight” hormone is released when the body senses danger. The body releases adrenaline primarily to raise sugar levels for the brain. The body wants the brain to constantly have enough fuel, and if for some reason the brain is running low, don’t underestimate the amount of sugar that can and will be produced. When a person is lying in bed at night, tossing and turning, getting up at 3:00am to use the restroom, and grinding teeth, this is a result of excess adrenaline.

Seeking a healthcare professional to inform a person on techniques or medication to control their hormone balance can change everything.

Platt Wellness Review The Reasons Behind What Causes Fatigue

$

Fatigue is a result/symptom of hormone imbalance.
Fatigue can be a result of poor diet, inability to sleep at night due to excess adrenaline, and overexertion.

Many times when doctors are getting a background on a patient, the patient mentions their lack of energy throughout the day. Most of the time fatigue is an underlying effect from something greater, but it’s still something that needs attention.

Fatigue is a result/symptom of hormone imbalance, it’s not so much a disease. Some adrenal fatigue symptoms include:

• Weight Gain

• Increased PMS in Women

• Depression

• Low Energy Between 3 and 4 PM

• Anxiety Attacks

• Difficulty Staying on Task

A question that doctors are asking, “is adrenal fatigue a condition related to too little cortisol or too much adrenaline?” It’s important to know the answer to this question because the treatment for both are very different. Because the treatment plans differ so much, before it is completely diagnosed it may be wise to treat either of these symptoms as if it were adrenaline dominance, instead of having them on cortisol. (a powerful hormone that they may not even need.) Though doctors may not be able to completely treat chronic fatigue, there are many different approaches to finding solutions, whether temporary or long lasting.

The unfortunate thing about feeling fatigued is that people try to overcompensate by ingesting way too much sugar, which then adds another problem, weight gain. Once the problem has been diagnosed, it is then easier to treat. Adrenal fatigue is a diagnosis used mostly in the alternative medicine. This diagnosis is based on the theory that the adrenal gland can fail to produce enough quantities of cortisol. Treatment includes medication, but also diet and sleeping habits should change to aid in the treatment process.

Hormones can play a huge part in why a person feels fatigued and slowed down. There are many solutions, but it’s important to seek the counsel of a trusted healthcare professional. The most important things to focus on if struggling with fatigue is, diet, sleep patterns, and work patterns. It’s unhealthy for the body to be overworked and exhausted all the time.

Whole Life Balance Can Provide Assistance in a Speedy Recovery From Illnesses

During recovery from different ailments, necessary attention must be given to food and nutrition.
The human body is prone to ailments.

People fall ill, but with the correct treatment and care they recover. However, during recovery from different ailments, necessary attention must be given to food and nutrition. Proper nutrition has the potential to speed up the recovery process. Experts from the field of medical science have suggested that nutrition plays a major role in revitalizing the body after illness.

Keep up the body’s strength and energy

Good nutrition is essential to providing ample amount of energy to the body. One must consume a sufficient amount of carbohydrates as this is mainly where energy from food comes from. In the course of recovery, having a nutritious meal containing the required amount of carbohydrates will help fuel the cells and tissues. It also helps in maintaining healthy organ function. It is important to be well nurtured with healthy foods for a steady recovery.

Reducing the risk of infections

If someone is recovering from surgery or from a severe body wound, there are chances of infections. The probability of infection actually increases when one does not have the proper amount of nutrition in the meals. Nutrients such as zinc are useful for faster healing of wounds and prevent an infection from occurring. Vitamin C is responsible for helping the body create white blood cells (WBCs) which have the potential to destroy infection causing pathogens. Proper nutrition containing these elements will certainly aid the body in recovering from illness faster by keeping infections away.

Maintain the body weight and healing tissues faster

It is often noticed that a person recovering from a prolonged ailment loses a considerable amount of weight. However, such a situation can be avoided from happening if the concerned person is fed with a nutritious food containing sufficient quantities of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Protein is a body-building food that not only repairs tissue and cell damage but also helps to retain a healthy body-mass. So during the recovery period, a person must be fed with a nutritious diet containing proteins to maintain and accelerate the recovery process.

Combating side effects

Nutrition also helps the body in tolerating the side effects of medicines. Especially during recovery from diseases such as cancer, a nutritious diet will provide the body with the required energy to deal with treatment-related ill effects and help a person in recovering faster.

Law Experts Explain New Rule Pertaining to Cannabis Legislate in New York

When periodic inspections are made of any dispensary, it is common to have violations and unfair assessments. This kind of bureaucratic nonsense can be difficult for a business owner, especially someone who has not previously had government as an impediment to success in entrepreneurship. However, there are ways to handle the situation to your advantage.
If someone is considering medical cannabis as a business or a personal legal matter, there are excellent attorneys who are able to assist.

The best lawyers specializing in cannabis legislation will be able to advise on such diverse matters like the best way to quality test product and meet the required Department of Health standards, liability management when considering the requirements for marketing cannabis to medical users, and the best way to approach the financial management requirements that place many in the medical cannabis field outside of the traditional banking institutions.

One of the first issues facing dispensaries of medical cannabis is the common “bawdy house” provision in lease documents for commercial property.  There are certainly good reasons to have that clause in a commercial lease, but the dispensation of medical treatment is not one of them!  An experienced and qualified attorney will be able to advise on the best approach to take when selecting a location, both to protect someone and their business interests and to maximize reach to the patients.

While not as often an issue right off the bat, there is also the common approach of the Department of Health. Your counsel should be able to advise you on a first approach, and then respond on your behalf if there are ongoing issues that need to be challenged.

Finally, when it comes to getting the word out about a practice, a person must be able to do some advertising – all medical establishments and pharmacies do this, and this particular business is fundamentally no different.  A future cannabis business does operate under various restrictions, however, that impose strict fines and penalties upon the type and location of marketing that business can engage in. Advisors, counselors and attorneys should be aware of the rapidly changing laws in regard to marketing of medical cannabis, and be able to advise on the best use of marketing dollars.

A medical cannabis dispensary can be a godsend to those who are in need of that kind of help, and will undoubtedly become a source of pride to you and your family if are able to navigate the new laws and red tape to get it there!  Be sure to engage with an experienced pro who knows his way around the laws surrounding medical cannabis.

Gender Specific Recovery Programs – Does it Make a Difference? Wilderness Treatment Center Explains How

$

The combination of wilderness and nature with an intense inpatient recovery program is extremely profitable. Men empowering men and imparting the tools that life requires to be successful is one of the many attributes that a men’s wilderness expedition will have.
When it comes to programs and treatment centers, it’s important for anyone struggling with addiction to find the program that is right for them, but does it make a difference to have a curriculum and environment catered to gender?

When it comes to recovery, the more customized a program is for each unique individual, the better chance they will have at a lasting recovery. There are advantages to integrating both genders into group therapy to mimic reality, but on the other side of the spectrum, gender specific programs can benefit an individual and allow them to open up at a quicker pace.

Men’s Wilderness Expedition

There are great programs for men that involve the wilderness, nature, and intense healing. It’s important through these expeditions that a licensed addiction counselor be on staff 24/7. The combination of wilderness and nature with an intense inpatient recovery program is extremely profitable. Men empowering men and imparting the tools that life requires to be successful is one of the many attributes that a men’s wilderness expedition will have.

Women’s Treatment

Women have a completely different effect from alcohol and substance abuse than men. This difference requires a specialized program to center around them and their needs. The consequences of women abusing drugs and alcohol can have extremely adverse consequences. Women can lose their children, the respect of others, and their personal confidence. This can take a substantial toll. The program customized for women addresses deep rooted emotional damage that can (if not treated) prevent long-term healing and sobriety. It’s essential for a women to have a safe environment to open up in with a constructive atmosphere constantly encouraging each individual.

Which gender is more likely to become an addict?

Many experts have conducted studies on whether a person’s gender has anything to do with the strength of an addiction. Gender plays a prominent role in the creation of an addiction. Men are more likely to have exposure to drugs than women, making it more common for men to become drug abusers. Though, women are more likely to get hooked on narcotics having to do with relieving stress and assisting with sleep. There is a biological difference in the way men and women respond the drugs and alcohol, so one can only assume treatment should be different.

Whether male or female is irrelevant, what’s important is that each individual struggling reaches out for help, and receives the best help for them. There are treatment centers offering the most specific and customized programs in order to promote long-term sobriety. This is, of course, the end goal. So regardless of gender, seeking a well established treatment center will benefit an individual struggling with addiction.
